QF1 was a good direct flight. The staff were lovely and I was given a set of business class headphones. Not sure why they gave them to me but they are much better than the foamy ones.
I was pleasantly surprised with the inflight entertainment! ‘That Sugar Film’ was one of the options and I must say that I loved it. Very interesting. Having said that, the food on offer at Qantas was tasty but mostly Carby. No wine served, just some sort of cordial!
I bought a small bottle of Belvedere Vodka to have on the plane to help me sleep. I tried a sleeping pill but it made me feel unwell and did not work so then I tried the Vodka……much better!
When we arrived at Dubai airport, I thought I’d have to give up my litre Duty free Vodka because we had to be rescreened in security while we were reconnecting. I discarded the rest of the Belvedere but didn’t need to after all. I did keep the litre bottle though!
My lovely aisle seat from Sydney was row 88…..yes the last row but it did recline and after Dubai I did have the seat beside me free too! I got to see a bit of Dubai at night from a window where it is lit up like a Christmas tree! Couldn’t make out any tall buildings though because of having to be seated as we landed. The majority of this flight is in the dark. I hope it will be different on the return trip.
I also watched Despicable Me 2, the final Hobbit Movie, Birdman and started American Sniper……but I really don’t like movies centred around war and violence.
Arrived at Heathrow later than expected and then Scott travelled with me on the train to his work in Fenchurch street next to the Walky Scorchy building! I walked down to the Tower of London….tourist city and looked around for some shops! So I then hopped onto a train to Oxford street for a little browsing then back to meet Scott for lunch. We went to Jamie Oliver’s Italian in Needlethread Street. I had the Pork and Scott had the veal schnitzel. The food was really good!
I then ventured to my hotel by an Uber cab, ordered by Scott. Great service! The guy was very helpful and when we started chatting it ended up that he was Polish and knew people who had visited Oz. Small world.
So…the hotel! Ha ha ha……It is new, really clean, very helpful but the rooms are shoeboxes….which is OK with me, on my own but never would I recommend this queen room to a couple.
The TV is large, tea & coffee facilities are provided, water bottle in the room and the water pressure for the shower is good. I caught a red London bus from outside the Hotel to central LONDON.
Dinner was at SushiSamba on the 38th floor of the Heron Tower! It dwarfs the ‘Gherkin’ and there’s a great view of the ‘Cheesegrater’ building And the eastern parts of London. The lift is glass and takes you up while you enjoy the view. We enjoyed some Sake and prawn, pork and veggie delights.
Early night for me though to catch up with lost zzzzzzzs. Lionel tomorrow evening! Woohoo!
How did you get a a qantas plane in your bedroom???
