I got up and blogged away this morning until we wandered down town to have breakfast. We found a lovely timber establishment where we indulged in a typical Polish breakfast and hot coffee! It was still snowing and I couldn’t help but reflect on the fact that all this snow created work for so many people……street cleaners, footpath cleaners, driveway clearing, window scraping…..on and on the labour occurred!
We strolled down the road to try to organise a bus trip to Wroclaw but found the cable car that took us to the top of Mount Kasprowy Wierch (1985m). It snowed heavily as we enjoyed some Krupnik and Zupa in the restaurant and then we battled our way around in the heavy snow.
I got to slip over flat on my face…ha ha ha and Scott got to pat a Pies (dog). It was cold and visibility was low, which I only realised when the sky cleared a little and we could see the village and other mountains.
We made contact with Amadeusz and organised the next leg of our journey. We are catching a bus at 6.25am tomorrow for 7 hours to Wroclaw. Amadeusz will collect us from there and take us to Lubin. I also booked Polskibus for our trip to Gdansk…..ridiculously cheap travel!
It was then time for a walk and find some dinner. We headed to the oldest restaurant in Zakopane called Restauracja U Wnuka. We ordered the plate for 2 plus some pierogi! OMG it was food on steroids! All washed down with Krupnik and Sparkling water. We could see the sun trying to break through at this late in the afternoon and it exposed the really high mountains surrounding the village which were hidden by the snow.
Now the footpaths were black and slushy but the park was still covered in powder so we walked into it for the last time.
This place has been so magical and we got the best of the snow…..at Easter…….our waitress this morning was not happy about it……it should not snow at Easter! I think it was great that it did!
